Dear NIH-KSA and colleagues,
On behalf of the Organizing Committee, I would like to invite you to the Annual Bioscience and Engineering Symposium 2009. This is the first annual Conference for the Korean scientists working in the Washington DC area. The ABES 2009 conference is sponsored by KSEA and the local Washington KSEA chapter. This year Korean Scientists from University of Maryland, Georgetown University, Stanley Medical Research Institute, and the NIH will get together on November 7th (Saturday) in the NIH campus and present their latest research.
The keynote presentation will be given by Dr. Byung Kook Lee, a senior investigator at the NCI. Following the keynote address, 12 oral presentations will be given by young Korean scientists. We have also planned a Career Workshop for the young scientists who are ready or preparing for the transition to an independent research career. The Career Workshop presentations will be given by three experts on NIH grants, Dr. Sonia B. Jakowlew, Program Director, NCI, Ms. Nancy C. Lohrey, Program Director, NCI, and Dr. Min-Kyung Song, Program Director, NCI, and will focus on the grants which are targeted for the young scientists. In the career workshop session, the attendees will have an opportunity to ask questions and interact with the panelists. Lunch will be provided (free) as long as the attendees register through the website (see link below) before October 30.
The details about the conference the speakers and registration can be found at:

Please come and network with the fellow scientists and friends from other Universities and the NIH on November 7th and remember to register before October 30. Please share this email with fellow Korean scientists and encourage them to register and join us on November 7th. Your active participation is critical for the continued efforts to foster networking and collaboration among young Korean scientists.
I look forward to meeting you all at the ABES 2009 conference on November 7th.
Sincerely,
Sean
